About Us

Dogs in Need was first registered under that name in July 1995. Prior to that it had operated since 1984 under the name of Animal Shelter in tandem with Katz Castle.

Whilst the Objects of the Charity are widely drawn, our present activity comprises the re-homing of dogs no longer required by their present owners. Where necessary, such dogs will be taken into our care and looked after until a new home is found.

The Charity is run by a small group of trustees (the maximum permitted by the Articles of Association is 7). The present trustees are:

Richard Powles Chairman
Neil Coode
Sarah Lambert

Fran Hampshire
Debbie Spear

The Trustees are supported by a team of home visitors, foster homes and transporters who all work gratis. If requested, we pay expenses. Our kennels, whilst charging for their services, give us special rates and act for us in many ways beyond the call of duty.

The Company’s formal Annual Report and Financial Statements are filed with Companies House and the Charity Commission and are available for inspection on their websites.
